How Many Times A Day Do You Wash Your Hands?
How many times a day do you wash your hands?
For me, I roughly estimate it’s about 1,827 times. Excessive? Well, keep in mind I work in an elementary school, so ….
I kid, but seriously, it’s a lot. With all of this extra hand washing & hand sanitizing, I thought for sure my hands would be even more dry & cracky than they are during even a normal winter … BUT THEY AREN’T! And I owe it all to my three go-to products I’ve been using all winter long.
How to Keep Your Hands Clean & Moisturized
Your skin works as a shield protecting your body from germs. Its outermost layer has oils and wax to help maintain your skin’s natural moisture, but using soap and constant scrubbing & sanitizing can irritate your skin barrier, leading to the loss of the natural oils. This equals dry, cracky, sometimes even itchy skin.
What’s the solution to wash your hands but also keep them soft & healthy?
- Use a hand soap with ingredients that work to clean gently and don’t strip away moisture while you wash. I love this Beautycounter hand wash with organic aloe, & green tea.
- If you are in a situation where you need to use hand sanitizer, try this non-toxic one that I’m loving by Beautycounter. Not only does it sanitize, but it is moisturizing, and anti-aging! Plus it uses safe and clean ingrediants. I am telling you you will be amazed when you try it. I also love Active Skin Repair’s hand sanitizer. No harsh chemicals, no alcohol, totally safe & maybe even more effective than what you were using previously.
- And lastly, don’t forget about moisturizing! I am loveloveLOVING this Beautycounter lightweight moisturizing cream that hydrates and softens. You have to love not smothering your hands with toxic ingredients, but instead using things like like shea butter, organic sunflower oil, vitamin E, aloe, calendula, and chamomile. (BTW, it smells amazing & I get compliments on it all the time.)
Oh, and drink lots and lots of H2O of course!
