Skin Care Ingredients to Avoid

Skin Care Ingredients to Avoid

Have you ever wondered what ingredients are in your skin care routine, or are there skin care ingredients to avoid? What if I told you that the United States has not passed a major federal law to regulate the ingredients in personal care since 1938! Yep, you read that right. It has been a long time since anything has been done to make sure what we put on our skin is safe. I am going to share some skin care ingredients to avoid, and also share Beautycounter, a brand that is setting the bar for safe beauty in the industry!

Skin Care Ingredients

There are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market today and there is little to no regulation on what is allowed in our products that we use on ourselves or our kids daily. Beautycounter is striving to set the safest standards in beauty and strives to set the bar for the rest of the beauty industry. One of the main reasons I use Beautycounter and feel safe with their skin care and makeup is because of The Never List. This is a list of over 1,800 ingredients that Beautycounter has promised to never use in their products. This also includes the over 1,400 chemicals banned or restricted by the European Union, plus additional chemicals screened by Beautycounter and found to be unsafe.

Skin Care During Pregnancy

You might have read that heading and thought, I’m not pregnant, or maybe you are. So why am I talking about skin care in pregnancy. Whether you have been pregnant or not it is a commonly known thing that there are skin care ingredients that are not safe to use during pregnancy. If there are skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy why are we allowed to use those ingredients when we are not pregnant?! It just doesn’t make sense to me. If retinol is not safe to use during pregnancy then why is it in skin care at all? Instead of accepting that standard Beautycounter uses a Retinatural Complex that is a safer alternative for anyone. You don’t have to give up anti-aging skin care just to be safe.

Go to Skin Care

When it comes to knowing which ingredients are safe in skin care it can get overwhelming reading labels and trying to investigate on my own. That is why my go to skin care and makeup is Beautycounter. It is a brand I trust and I know they are continuously raising the bar when it comes to a standard of safety. Let’s be honest, we are busy enough. If I can put my trust in Beautycounter then that is one less thing I have to worry about. I love that Beautycounter is safe for the whole family too! Not only do they have The Never List, but there is also Beautycounter’s Blueprint for clean. They rolled out 12 safety standards that their formulas and manufacturing partners must adhere to. If they don’t, it is a hard no. Check out that blueprint here!
